Edward Norfleet Obituary

Edward K. "Eddy" Norfleet, Jr., 67, of Amarillo, TX passed away on January 7th, 2021.

Private family services will be held.

Edward K. "Eddy" Norfleet, Jr. was born in Atlanta, Georgia on June 18th, 1953. Shortly after his birth, his family moved to Oklahoma where his father, Dr. Edward K. Norfleet Sr., practiced medicine. Both his father and mother, Eva Weldon Norfleet, served their country during War World II, giving Eddy a lifelong admiration for our men and women in uniform. His younger sister Pally was born 15 months after Eddy.

After graduating High School in Tulsa, he attended the University of Oklahoma where he earned a B.A. in 1975 and a J.D. in 1978. He was a proud member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity.

After graduating from Law School, Eddy moved to Amarillo and had two children - Edward Keats Norfleet III and Emily Nell Norfleet. He practiced law, first as in-house counsel for a Fortune 500 Oil and Gas Corporation, and as a sole practitioner for the last 24 years focusing on family law, oil and gas, and wills and probate. Respected by his peers in the legal community, Eddy received numerous awards and served on local boards and commissions.

In 1993, Eddy married his best friend and love of his life, Gina Bowers. He would become a second father to Gina's young children, Blake and Chris. The extended family of four children - Keats, Nellie, Blake and Chris enjoyed travel and holidays with Eddy, Gina and Aunt Pally. He would later become "Boompa" to four adoring granddaughters, Parker, Price, Boston and Emma, calling and Face-Timing each on a near daily basis.

A die-hard Sooner football fan, Eddy never missed a game between TV and trips to Norman and bowl games. Though shocked when his oldest son decided to attend the University of Texas, the two bet on the game every year, with the Sooners holding a 14-10 record as of 2020. Boomer Sooner.

His love of family and football was only outdone by his relationship with the Lord. He kept a long prayer list of family and friends until his passing. The family takes great comfort knowing Eddy is now in Heaven watching over them.

Survivors include his wife, Gina; sister, Pally; son and daughter-in-law, Keats and Malaise Norfleet of Austin; daughter, Nellie Norfleet of Amarillo; son and daughter-in-law, Blake and Amanda Bunnett of Shreveport; son, Chris Bunnett of Dallas; and granddaughters, Parker and Price Norfleet of Austin, Boston Bunnett of Dallas, and Emma Bunnett of Shreveport.

Eddy was a high school friend that was well liked and well respected. He was kind, smart and very funny. My husband, Jeff, got to know Eddy during college as they were fraternity brothers. Jeff had the utmost respect for Eddy and has fond remembrances of his kindness and dry sense of humor. He will be missed. Anne Murphy Mabry and Jeff Mabry
