Gilbert Peshoff Obituary
Mr. Peshoff lived his entire life in the Lake Charles area. He served for 26 years in local law enforcement, five years with the Lake Charles Police Department, where he was known as "the happy cop," and 21 years with the Louisiana State Police, Troop D. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II. Gilbert loved people and never met a stranger.
Mr. Peshoff is survived by his loving wife, Ruby Burnett Benoit Peshoff; his daughters, Brenda Conner (Charles) of Bundick Lake, La., Marilyn Conner (Leonard) of LaPorte, Texas; Darlene Rose (Robert) of Grapevine, Texas; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents; and his son, Gary Ray Peshoff.
Burial will be at Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. The family will hold a memorial celebration of life at a later date.

Omg I'd been wanting to see if they were doing Ok. My grandmother was Zelda Peshoff Hebert. Gilbert render me so much of Uncle Vern. So sorry for the loss.

Brenda, Marilyn and Darlene,
I am so so sorry for you loss. You Dad was a wonderful father-in-law and a great grandfather to Chris. Chris talks about him and tells me all the stories Gilbert has told him about his time in the service, how the world has changed in his lifetime. The last time Chris visited his grandfather in the nursing home, I told him the time would come when he wouldnt remember who he was. And the last time he visited, Gilbert did not remember him but told the nurse he has a visitor with the same last name from the same city he lived in. Ive always keep your dad in my thoughts and already miss him. Prayers for your family and especially for Ruby.

Our daughter. Kelley, is married to Gilbert's grandson, Daniel Conner. We had the wonderful privilege of meeting Gilbert and will forever remember how he touched our lives that day.
I (arlene) had just lost my father and the similarities of the two men was unbelievable. It was hard to leave that day and I did so with tears. Our world has lost another treasure. We send our love and prayers.

I was Blessed to know Mr. Gilbert during his stay at the Nursing home. I would visit weekly to say a Rosary with the residents. He and Mrs. Ruby are favorites. Your mom is so sweet, I know it's hard for her and I hate that I can't visit with her. Your dad was so nice and friendly, such a gentleman, and so in love with your mom. I grieve with your mom, and will miss your dad. The last time I saw him was for Ash Wednesday, the Deacon and I visited with him. I was so glad to see that he was his wonderful nice self. When we walked in, he was sitting outside his room in the hallway, visiting with an aide. Such a good memory! My sincere condolences to all his family.
