Gary Leonard Washington

Born on July 3, 1953, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Gary was the son of the late Ida Dangerfield and Joseph Washington. He accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age, guiding his path throughout life. Gary was a proud alumnus of George Washington Carver High School. He dedicated over forty years of his career to Freeman Trade Show Exhibit & Event Company, where he served as a Freight Checker. Gary was a beloved husband to Barbara Jean Washington and a devoted father to Kevin (Lerocka), Schwanda, Nicole, Laquita, stepfather of Corey, Tiffany, Gwendolyn, Brenda, and Eniska. He was a loving brother to Andrea Brigalia (Kenneth), Charles Hill, and Reginald Washington. His legacy continues through his 29 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Ida Dangerfield Seymour and Joseph Washington; his sister, Sandra Marie Myers and his twin, Gayle Thomas Butler, grandson; Gregory Hayes Jr., nephews; Terrence Brigalia, Kevin Myers, and his niece, Christina Thomas. Gary leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will cherish his memories. Family and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, for 10:00 a.m. at The Boyd Family Funeral Home, 5001 Chef Menteur Hwy, New Orleans, LA 70126.
