James Hooks Jr.

"And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you." – John 16:22 James Hooks, Jr. was born on May 27, 1973 in Bogalusa, Louisiana. To the union of the late James Hooks, Sr. and Patricia A. Hooks. He accepted Christ at an early age. James graduated from Varnado High School in the year of 1991. James was joined in holy matrimony on April 20, 2013 to Monique Sherrike Peters. From this union five children were born, TyDarrious Lavonte, Jaheim Hooks, Leterrius Hooks, Leterrion Hooks and Jamoria Hooks. Also accepted into this union, James had three older children, Yakeem Pigott, James Tajah (Jalesia) Pigott, and KeeOnie Hooks. On May 4, 2025 James departed this life at his home. He will be truly missed. He was a faithful and devoted father. He also enjoyed his career offshore, his family and also fishing, but most of all he enjoyed being a mechanic. James had the smile that would brighten up a room. James leaves to cherish his wife, Monique Sherrike Peters; children; his mother, Patricia Ann Hooks; one brother, Vince (Joyce) Kemp; four sisters, Patrice (Brian) Jackson, Milandra Hooks both of Varnado, LA, Katie Sheridan of Lawton, OK and Victoria Floyd of Shorter, AL; three aunts, and five uncles; and one special uncle, Kenneth (Kenny) Kemp; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his father, James Hooks, Sr.; grandparents, John & Marie Hooks; grandmother, Gloria Kemp; great grandmother, Annie Rogers; uncles, John Hooks, Jr. and Willie Hooks; two aunts, Geneva Robinson and Mary Carter. A drive through viewing will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025 at Crain and Sons Funeral Home from 3:00PM - 6:00PM. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 2:00PM at Crain and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Nolan Robinson - Officiating. Interment will be held at the Robinson Cemetery.
