Jerry Fennessey Obituary

Jerry "Doc" Thomas Fennessey, age 73, of Lacombe, Louisiana, passed away on Friday, September 5, 2025, in Covington, Louisiana. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Patricia Fennessey; two daughters, Kelly Fennessey and Victoria Charbonnet (Jody); four grandchildren, Brody Charbonnet, Christopher Charbonnet, Audrey Charbonnet, and Claire Charbonnet; one brother, Richard "Dick" Fennessey (Eulalia); and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, James and Evelyn Fennessey; three brothers, James, Marvin, and Daniel Fennessey; and three sisters, Mary Oberhaus, Bess Berger, and Bonnie Calvin. Jerry was born on May 16, 1952, in Washington, Missouri, to James and Evelyn Fennessey. He later made Louisiana his home where he met and married Patricia Hall, the love of his life. Together, they shared many wonderful years, building a life rich with love, laughter, and family. Above all else, Jerry's greatest joy and purpose was devoted to caring for the well-being and happiness of his wife and children. Known affectionately as "Doc," Jerry spent nearly four decades working alongside his best friend, Mike Moore, at Mike's Hardware in Slidell, Louisiana. With humility, dedication, and a steady hand, he served his community and always was ready to help, never seeking recognition. He never complained, always stepped up, and was quick to lend a hand to anyone in need. These qualities defined both his work and his life. Outside of work, "Pawpaw Doc" was a gifted artist. He found joy in sketching for friends, customers, and especially his wife, children, and grandchildren. Every piece he created, always signed with his personal motto, "Stand tall and never give up", reflected the values by which he lived. Beneath a rough exterior was a heart full of compassion and wisdom. He lived simply but left a deep and lasting impact on every life he touched. His presence will be profoundly missed, but his spirit lives on in his art, his family, and the lessons he shared.
