Jose G. "Pepe" Alvarez passed away peacefully in his sleep on Aug 12, 2025, surrounded by his immediate family. Pepe was born on June 22, 1935 in Havana, Cuba.
He was a man of many talents. There was nothing that he could not do when he set his mind to it. Pepe came to the United States in 1960 and spent the next two years becoming a U.S. citizen as well as working to get his wife, Amalia, to this country. Pepe spent 40 years as an accountant with Sanderson Farms. He also had many hobbies in which he excelled at. He drove race cars, was an exceptional bowler, loved golf, and owned a small stable of race horses at different times during his life. Pepe also played semi-pro baseball in Hammond and Ponchatoula. He truly had a competitive spirit. The best way to describe Pepe was that he lived life well.
He is survived by his sons, Joseph (Teresa) Alvarez and Tommy Alvarez, and one grandson, Hunter Alvarez.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Jose and Ida Alvarez, as well as the love of his life, Amalia Alvarez, his wife of over 60 years.
