Melanie Watts Obituary

Melanie, born on January 30, 1959, in Baton Rouge, LA, was sent to her eternal home on Friday, August 8, 2025, at the age of 66, surrounded by her loving family. Mel, as she was affectionately known, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on this Earth was one marked by one of love, compassion, and her unwavering faith in God. Mel's passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by her. She was a light in this world, and now we continue shining it by carrying it within our own lives. Mel was a devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend to everyone she met. To know her was to love her. Her life lessons, and her legacy will live on through every funny story she told, every delicious meal she cooked, and every act of kindness that she did for others. Mel loved gardening, spending time with her grandbabies and sitting on her front porch drinking coffee with her mom. Mel retired from the Livingston Parish School Board System and was currently employed by Canes Supermarket in Albany. She is survived by her daughters, Angela Gregerson (Randy Core), Stacey Davis (Chris); grandchildren, Kameron Miller (Hannah), Nichole Davis, Zoey Davis; and great-grandchildren, Greyson Vassil, Levi Miller, Koen Miller. She was the daughter of Bobby and Vergie Allen; sister to Dawn Bergeron, Barry Addison, Bryan Allen (Barbie), and Jimmy Allen; and proud Nanee to Jonathon Dixon, Jo'Lea Bergeron, and Taylor Addison. She is also survived by Charles Addison (Sharon), and her beloved spoiled dog, Ju-Ju. Melanie is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Bob and Delma Morgan; paternal grandparents, Louis and Tommie Addison, Morris and Bea Allen; baby sister, Jodi Addison; and brother-in-law, Randy Lane Dixon. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks of love and gratification to everyone at Canes Supermarket for loving her like we did. Pallbearers will be Chris Davis, Kameron Miller, Jonathon Dixon, Barry Addison, Bryan Allen, and Wade Speirs. Honorary pallbearer will be Jimmy Allen. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home at 12012 Hwy 190 W Hammond, LA 70401 on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Bro. Scott Cooksey will officiate with interment to follow in Blood River Baptist Church Cemetery.

I met Mel at Cains when it was Carters she and I were in wrecks at the same time and shared "bobos". Mel was so lovely and kind to everyone. The Lird is pleased with his servant. "Well done good and faithful servant". I will miss her very much.
