Ray Duncan Obituary
RAY WALTER DUNCAN, AGE 95 And a resident of the Hackley Community passed away Sunday night October 5, 2025 at Fair City Health and Rehab. He was retired after a long career as a dairyman. Ray owned and operated Duncan Acres where he loved riding on the tractors, taking care of his cows, maintaining the land and all the other hard work that it took for a successful dairy. He loved gardening and planted a large one each year. His family canned the abundance of vegetables and he enjoyed sharing the tomatoes and other items with his neighbors and friends. Ray was an avid hunter, especially deer and wild turkeys. He traveled with friends and family on numerous hunting trips to the Homochitto National Forest as well as trips to Texas, Kansas and other areas. He also loved fishing and spent many hours on the Pearl River. Earlier in life, he and his wife traveled often with a special group of friends, visiting Australia, New Zealand, several countries in Europe, several trips to Tennessee and just about every other state including Hawaii. Ray never met a stranger and always enjoyed visiting with the people he met. He was a longtime active member of New Stateline Baptist Church. Ray will be forever missed by those that loved him. 2 Sons and Daughters in law: Brent and Laurie Duncan of Hackley, Ronnie and Robin Duncan of Tylertown 4 Grandchildren and Spouses: Brandon Duncan, Shaun and Melinda Duncan, Justin and Hannah Duncan, Jamey and Ariel Duncan Great-grandchildren: Sebastian, Leila, Ethan, Corbin, Paxton, Branson, Brailey, Breona Great-great-grandson: Koda 2 Brothers in law and a Sister in law: Lynwood and Eleanor Dykes of Tylertown, Frank Dykes of Tremont, MS Special Friend and Caregiver: Elia Perez Javana Also numerous nieces, nephews and cousins He was preceded in death by his daughter Donna Duncan Brooks, wife of 67 years Neta Von Dykes Duncan, parents Jim Duncan and Sally Rogers Duncan, brother James Duncan, sisters Edna Blackwell, Mabel Brumfield, father in law and mother in law Cressa and Bertha Dykes, sister in law Bonnie Dykes and other family members. Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home (1109 Bene Street, Franklinton) on Wednesday October 8th from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 12:00 pm Wednesday with Eld. Darren Uzell and Eld. Duane Ball officiating. Burial will follow in the New Zion Baptist Church Cemetery near Dexter, MS.
