Barbara Sue Turner Marcum Obituary

Funeral service for Barbara Sue Turner Marcum, 62, will be Saturday, May 17, 2014, 2 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home. The Rev. Kenneth Howell will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Heflin City Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 until 8 at the funeral home. Barbara Sue Turner Marcum, second of four children, was born on November 15, 1951 to Howard and Retha Turner. She spent her early years working in the family restaurant business which she later owned and operated as Hometown Restaurant. Barbara had a love for cooking and nothing made her happier than to see people enjoy her food. She poured her heart and soul into it. Mrs. Marcum was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Mrs. Marcum adored her family and her children which were the light of her life. She was loved and respected and touched the lives of many friends that she met along her journey of 62 years. She was preceded in death by her mother, Retha Bell Turner and father, Howard L. Turner. Barbara is survived by her husband, Jim Marcum; children, Candace Leigh Marcum and Brian Alverson; grandson, Blake Austin Alverson; brothers, Curtis Turner and Larry Turner; sister, Cathey Howle; nieces and nephews, Crystal Turner Waites (Cole), Brady Turner (Cindy), Kimberly Turner French (Jeremy) and Catherine Howle Jordan (Shay); and four great-nieces.
