Frances Lucille Gowens

Service for Frances Lucille Gowens, 87, will be Monday, November 24, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. David Ingram and the Rev. Billy Hicks officiating. Burial will follow at Union Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 6-8 p.m. Mrs. Gowens passed away Friday, November 21, 2014, at Piedmont Health and Rehabilitation Center. Survivors include two sons, Donald Gowens (Vickie), of Spring Garden and Tommy Gowens (Carla), of Jacksonville; two grandchildren, Kayla Gowens, of Piedmont and Matt Reeves, of Auburn; two sisters, Jewell Smith (Randy), of Oxford and Joyce Freeman, of Texas; one brother, Olen Armitage (Charlene), of Jonesboro, Ga.; sister-in-law, JoAnn Armitage, of Cave Spring, Ga. and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Harold Woods, Charlie Hilburn, Darren Armitage, Tommy Thomas, Keith McCord and Randy Smith. Mrs. Gowens was a longtime resident of Cherokee County and was a member of Pleasant Arbor Baptist Church.
