Fred Self

Fred Self, age 91, of Andalusia, Alabama passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2022. Fred is survived by his daughter Lisa Self Jones (William); and his son Ross Laird Self (Nancy); his grandchildren Emily Self Funcik (Robert), William Ross Jones, and Joshua Michael Jones, his great grandchildren Caleb Robert Funcik and Joshua Rivers Funcik and several nieces and nephews. Fred was preceded in death by his wife Janett Laird Self; his parents Ragan Pascal and Lennie Grubbs Self; his brothers Vernard Self and Bryan G Self and his sister Martha Self Wiggins. A visitation for Fred will be held Wednesday, October 12, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 542 W 52nd St, Anniston, Alabama 36206. A graveside service will occur Thursday, October 13, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Eulaton United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Virgil Bohn officiating. Fred was a member of Eulaton United Methodist Church. He served in the US Army. He worked at Alabama Power for over 30 years. After he retired, he and his beloved wife Janett enjoyed traveling. He enjoyed spending time watching football, driving his convertible Mustang and listening to Gospel music. His favorite things in life were his grandchildren, great grandchildren, his cat Gidget and talking about old times. He was a loving father, grandfather and uncle and he will be greatly missed.
