James C. Leonard Jr Obituary

Weaver - Funeral service for SFC James C. Leonard Jr., 81, U.S. Army Retired, will be today, December 6, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Maple Grove Mausoleum Chapel with Chaplain MAJ Derek Smith officiating. Entombment will be in the Maple Grove Mausoleum with full military honors. The family will receive friends at the K.L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jacksonville from 12 until 1:30 p.m. Thursday. SFC Leonard died Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at Jacksonville Medical Center. He is survived by his wife, Margarethe I. Leonard, of Weaver; two daughters, Claudia Frostl, of Carrollton, Ga. and Joann Danforth and her husband, Stephen, of Pensacola, Fla.; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Frostl, of Sandy Utah; two sons, David Leonard, of Weaver and Michael C. Leonard; three sisters, Shirley Rambo, of Alex City, Frances Cousins, of Opelika and Jeanette Broom and her husband, Larry, of Valley; one brother, Douglas Leonard and his wife, Virginia, of Wetumpka; five grandchildren, Jonathan Gleason, Kastin Frostl, Kasey Hutton, Josef Hutton and Magiee Hurtado and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be provided by the military. SFC Leonard served his country in the U.S. Army for 26 years, including combat action in the Korean War. He was the recipient of a Purple Heart, the Korean Service Medal with five Bronze Service Stars, the National Defense Service Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, the United Nations Service Medal as well as the Sharpshooter and Expert Rifle Medal. Upon his retirement he was a Civil Service employee as a weapons inspector for 10 years. He was preceded in death by his son, Manfred Frostl; his parents, James and Addie Lee Leonard Jr. and his mother-in-law, Gertrude Pfeffer.
