Jimmy D. O'Dell Obituary

A Celebration of the life of Jimmy D O'Dell, 72, will be Monday, November 30, 2015, 11 a.m., at St. Mark United Methodist Church. The Rev. Tim Kendrick and Father Bryan Lowe will be officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Inurnment will follow at Sacred Heath of Jesus Catholic Church. Mr. Odell passed away on Friday at Regional Medical Center. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Stephanie O'Dell; son, Douglas A. O'Dell (Martha); daughter, Janice R Rang; brothers, Tommy L. O'Dell (Dale) and Keith D. O'Dell (Kathy); grandchildren, Logan Waldrep (Candice), Lauren O'Dell, Meaghan Rang, Patrick Rang and Lina Rang; great-grandson, Emmitt Waldrep and several nieces and nephews. Jimmy O'Dell was a retired US Air Force MSGT, US Air Force Firefighter for 23 years, the last 3 years serving as a First SGT in the US Air Force. He was recipient of the Air Force Commendation Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Overseas Service Long Tour Ribbon, Air Force Longivity Service Award Ribbon with Four Oak Leaf Clusters, Viet Nam Service Medal with One Star, Republic of Viet Nam Campaign Medal, Air Force Good duct Medal with One Silver Star, Oak Leaf Cluster with One Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster. He was also a retired Firefighter/ EMT with the Anniston Army Depot with 21 years of Service. Jimmy O'Dell was a member of Anniston Masonic Sts .John Lodge, serving as Worshipful Master from 1993 to 1994. He was also a member of Zamora Shrine Temple. He has been active in The York Right Body surviving as High Priest, Lustrous Master and Eminent Commander in the Anniston York Rite Bodies. He was Priory # 31, K.Y.C.H. and is Past Prior. He was a member of Emorys W. John York Rite College # 179. In serving as excellent Chief in 2008. In 2003 he was Ordained in Jerusalem Tabernacle XXXII Royal Arch Knight Templar Priest and served as Fourth Pillar. He is past Puissant Sovereign of Benjamin Franklin Conclave, Red Cross of Constantine serving 2005 to 2006. He was a member of the Alabama College of Society's of Rosicrueciana, in Civitabulas Foederatis located in Huntsville. He was Principle Conductor of the Work in the Grand Council of Royal and Select Masters of Alabama. Sir Knight O'Dell received the Knight Templar Cross of Honor in 2003 and Knight Commander of the Temple in 2007. He served as the Prophet Monarch of Dinar Grotto, Mystic Order of Veiled Prophets of the Enchanted Realm located in Hoover in 2009. He is a member of Birmingham Valley, Ancient and Accepted Scotish Rite Masons and received the honor of being knighted as Knight Commander of the Court of Honor in November 2009. Jimmy had formerly worked on the Board of registrars of Calhoun County and was a Role Player for Leidos at Ft. McClellan. One of his proudest accomplishments was being appointed by Congressmen Mike Rogers to the Anniston Water and Sewer Board in 1995. He assumed chairmanship in 2005.
