John Lemon Obituary

Graveside service for John Roger Lemon 60, of Weaver, Alabama will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at Sun Light Baptist Church Cemetery, Lincoln, Alabama with Reverend Mario McDaniel, officiating. Public viewing will be held from 1-6 PM on Friday, October 30, 2020 at the chapel of Goodson Funeral Home. Mr. Lemon was born August 27, 1960 to the late Minnie Mae Lemon and the late Jimmie Lee Lemon, Jr. He entered into external rest with the Lord on October 23, 2020 at RMC, Anniston, Alabama. Roger confessed Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and join the Salem Baptist Church, Eastaboga, Alabama. He later affiliated with the First Missionary Baptist Church, Anniston, Alabama, where he served until his death. Roger graduated from Lincoln High School and attended Jacksonville State University. He was employed by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Talladega, Alabama for 26 years, where he retired in 2015. He was currently employed by the Department of Homeland Security, Fort McClellan, Alabama and also Goodson Funeral Home, Anniston, Alabama. Roger was an avid sports fan and refereed a variety of sports to include: volleyball, softball, and basketball. He was loved and respected by all he encountered, never met a stranger. He leaves to cherish his loving memories: his loving wife of 34 years, Sharon Heard Lemon; his loving and devoted children, Renina Taliseya Fields, Deondra Jelice Lemon, and Christopher Charles Lemon; a very special grandson, Jeremiah Desean Lemon; six siblings, Jacquelyn (Leon) Lemon-Mckissic, Cepeda Lemon, Stanley Lemon, Tyson Lemon, Pamela Lemon, and Tanya Lemon; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, other loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie Lee Lemon, Jr; and Minnie Mae Lemon; his brothers, Leroy Lemon, Gerome Lemon, and Jimmy Lemon. Goodson Funeral Home, Inc. directing 256.237.9771
