Dr. Mack Amis will officiate and burial will follow in Forestlawn Gardens. His family will receive friends at the church at 12:30 pm prior to the service. There will be a private burial at Forestlawn Gardens following the service. Mr. Shaddix passed away July 30, 2018 at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital. He is preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Sarah Shaddix; brothers, James Coleman Shaddix, Andrew Worth Shaddix, and Leonard Bryant "L B" Shaddix; sisters, Sarah Dean Shaddix, Dorothy Maxine Shaddix, Mildred Key Coleman and Betty Green Burell. John was the seventh of eight children born October 14, 1922 to Reverend Grover Cleveland Shaddix and Sarah Pearl Key Shaddix. He did construction work at an early age until he went into the Army during WWII. He served during the Normandy Invasion in 1944. He served 240 days of continuous combat in France and received a Bronze Star. He was blessed, since he was not injured in combat. Shortly after he was discharged, he returned to Anniston and married his wife Nellie Taylor. He started working in building and construction, mainly commercial, from 1946-1988. He served 14 years as a Trustee of Saks High School. John was a lifelong resident of Calhoun County, AL and has been a member of Parker Memorial Baptist Church since March 1, 1979. He was a member of the Malcolm Street Sunday School Class. He served as a Greeter, Deacon, Chairman of Deacons, and a member of the Renovation Committee. His father was a Baptist preacher. John was in church and served the Lord all his life. He gave his life to the Lord at a very early age and he attended church until his health would not permit him to continue. He would tell you his greatest decision in life was to follow Christ.
