Kenneth Lamar Pettus Obituary

Oxford - Graveside services for Mr. Kenneth Lamar Pettus, 72, of Oxford, will be Thursday, March 28, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Maple Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Barry Sutton officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday at the funeral home from 12 until 1:30 p.m. Mr. Pettus passed away March 25, 2013 at his home in Oxford. Mr. Pettus is survived by his daughter, Kim and husband, Tim Hurst; brothers, Jerry, Scott, and Blake Pettus; grandchildren, Kyle and Kayla Hurst. Pallbearers will be Kyle and Tim Hurst, Blake Pettus, Matt Wood, Caleb Calhoun, and Brent Short. Mr. Pettus was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Pettus; mother, Hazel McKibbon Pettus. Mr. Pettus was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega County, and he served in the U.S. Navy. Chapel Hill Funeral Home Will be servicing the Pettus family 256-820-5151 www.chapelhillfh.com

Kenny and I grew up together and went into the Navy together. Even though we did not see each other much over the years, I remember him as a good friend and a good man. I have very fond memories of our adventures together.
