Sarah was the kindest professor I have had at JSU. I was in her last class before the pandemic hit. The university has lost an extremely sweet and talented person. She will be missed.

I will always remember Sarah as one of the most dedicated teachers I have ever known. She also went to great lengths to ensure that the writing clinic ran smoothly and effectively.
She was collegial, kind, thoughtful, and empathetic.
She won't be forgotten.

Sarah was one of the most brilliant, influential, kind professors I met at Jacksonville State University. She gave me an opportunity to work in the Writing Clinic, where I learned so much through gaining her friendship, listening to her stories, & watching her patience & thoughtfulness when working with students. Though she may not have known it, she taught me what it meant to be a good professor. She invested in her students & sacrificed so much of her own time into making sure they had every opportunity to understand. May we take her lead & pick up the slack & devote as much of our time & energy into students as she did.

In visions of the dark night
I have dreamed of joy departed
But a waking dream of life and light
Hath left me broken-hearted.
