William W. "Warren" McCullars Jr.

William W. "Warren" McCullars Jr., 63, passed away Saturday, August 26, 2017. Mr. McCullars graduated from Saks High School in 1972, and Auburn University in 1977. Mr. McCullars met Leigh Brakefield, from Birmingham, while at Auburn and they married in 1976. He was a loving husband and father. Mr. McCullars began his career at Alabama Gas as a residential marketing representative in Anniston in 1977. He retired as Director of Economic Development in 2017. Mr. McCullars was preceded in death by his father, William W. McCullars Sr., of Anniston. Mr. McCullars is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Leigh Brakefield McCullars; mother, Suanne McCullars; sister, Donna Roberts (Lewis), and two sons, Will McCullars (Jenn) and Ben McCullars (Ashley). Bub was the proud grandfather of Maddie, Drew, Riley and Ren. Mr. McCullars served the Lord by teaching and serving in many leadership positions at Huffman Baptist Church where he was also an ordained deacon. The family will receive friends at Huffman Baptist Church at 11 a.m. today, August 29, 2017. A celebration of Mr. McCullars' life will follow at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Cecil "Topper" Reid officiating. Private burial will follow at Crook Cemetery in Ohatchee. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Alabama.
