Yorick Porter

Services for Mr. Yorick Porter will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 12 noon at the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Carlton Phillips officiating and Rev. Carlos Woodard bringing the eulogy. Entombment will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery & Mausoleum. Yorick Porter was born in Anniston, Alabama on December 19, 1951 to the parentage of the late Herman Porter, Sr. and Ethel Prince Porter. He was the 5th born of 6, known as the knee baby. He confessed Christ at ana early age and joined the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorship of Rev. R. J. White. He was a proud graduate of Cobb Avenue High School, Class of 1970. He was an employee of the Anniston Army Depot for 32 years, where his work was always exceptional. After the death of his mother, he became the brother and uncle who kept the family united. In addition to his family commitments, he was a great husband, provider and had a strong ethic for things being neat and clean. He believed in helping others with a giving heart which enabled him to assist in any capacity necessary. He was friends to many because he met no strangers. He loved to dance, laugh, engage with others and tell corny jokes. He sadly transitioned unexpectedly to eternal peace on October 15. 2025 in the care of Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center surrounded by his wife, sister and other loved ones. His memories will be forever cherished by: his wife, Beverly Hall Porter; one daughter and two sons; his brother, Herman Porter, Jr. of Crestview, FL; two sisters, Arametta Porter and Judy Young, both of Anniston, AL; sisters-in-law, Cassandra (Eddyer) Brown, Sandra (Alphonza) Calloway and Sharon Jones; brother-in-law, Rodrick (Patricia) Johnson of Memphis, TN; several nieces, Nedra (Patrick) Payton, Shawneese Baysmore, Yolanda Porter, Jamell Young, Norleshia (Patrick) Robinson, LaShea Young, Angela Wilson, Delwana Davis and Tamika Allen; nephews, Andre Young, Bernard Thomas, Roderick Thomas, LaVonta (Keiuna) Young, Sherman Porter, Andrew Wilson, Jajuan Johnson, Dyvonte Brown, Alphonza Calloway, Alonza Calloway, Larry Jones and Lavar Jones; a special cousin, Carolyn Coleman; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by: his parents; and two sisters, Shirley Wilson and Delores Thomas.
