REV. CHARLES LEE CAUTHEN
LANCASTER — Rev. Charles Lee Cauthen, 87, of Kershaw, widower of Vergie Mae Faulkenberry Cauthen, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2022 at home.
He was born October 28, 1934 in Lancaster, a son of the late William Lee Cauthen and Frances Cornelia Whitley Cauthen.
Rev. Cauthen graduated from the Fruitland Bible Institute and was a member of Oakhurst Baptist Church. Among his pastorates were: Charlesboro Baptist Church - Lancaster County - 1970-1973; Bethel Baptist Church - Jefferson, SC - 1973-1977; Peachland Baptist Church - Anson County, NC - 1977-1998; Deep Creek Baptist Church - Anson County, NC - 1998-2001; Polkton Baptist Church - Anson County, NC - 2002 - 2004; Calvary Baptist Church - Jefferson, SC - 2007-2009; Midway Baptist Church - Kershaw, SC - 2015 - 2016.
A service to celebrate the life of Rev. Cauthen will be held Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Oakhurst Baptist Church with the Rev. Sean Stroud and Rev. John Rogers officiating. Burial will be in the Lancaster Memorial Park.
Rev. Cauthen is survived by, three daughters, Teresa Kay Hilton and her husband Michael, Cindy Pope and her husband Lamar all of Kershaw, and Ginger Annette Kiker and her husband Jimmy of Sophia, NC; a brother, Donnie Ray Cauthen and his wife Terri of Lancaster; three sisters, Ruth Elizabeth Adams, Bonnie Powers and her husband Wayne, all of Lancaster, and Judy Roberts of Great Falls; ten grandchildren; and twenty great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, Rev. Cauthen was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Mack Cauthen and three sisters, Betty Jean Small, Christine Catoe and Alice Robinson.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at the sanctuary of Oakhurst Baptist Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Oakhurst Baptist Church, 394 Barrett Road, Heath Springs, SC 29058.
