Adele Scheimreif Obituary

Adele Denise Scheimreif

formerly of Beach Haven

Adele Denise (Engard) Scheimreif, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Angel Guardian Assisted Living in Merritt Island, Fla. Born April 17, 1926 in Philadelphia, Pa. to Charles Francis and Mae (Miller)Engard. Adele was raised in Ship Bottom, where she was voted Miss Ship Bottom at the age of 3. She graduated from Barnegat High School in 1944, and married the love of her life, John "Jack" Scheimreif in July of that year, while he was serving in the U.S. Coast Guard, later raising their two boys in Beach Haven. Adele was a member of the BHVFC#1 Ladies Auxiliary. She also worked as a saleswoman at Gerber's in Beach Haven for many years, but was best known as a homemaker, fantastic cook and a loving caretaker for her husband, who battled cancer with her help for over 40 years, as well as her mother and father-in-law, who she cared for with the compassion and dedication of a well-trained nurse, without any formal training. At the time of her death, Adele still proudly held the Beach Haven Marlin and Tuna Club record for an 11 pound 13 ounce weakfish she caught in 1980 and would still challenge anyone to try and beat it. Adele and Jack retired to Stuart, Fla. 25 years ago, where they enjoyed fishing most every day, until they were no longer able. Her loving family knows she and Pop are searching for another record breaker in Heaven together again.

Adele was predeceased by her parents, Mae and Charles, as well as two sisters, Marion Beer and Virginia Bailey. She was most recently predeceased by her adoring husband of 66 years, Jack who passed away Feb. 22, 2010. Adele leaves behind her two beloved sons and their wives, David and Susie Scheimreif of Merritt Island, Fla., and Gary and Jill Scheimreif of Manahawkin; her two cherished granddaughters, Kari Ann Scheimreif of Ocean Gate, and Sara Scheimreif of Manahawkin; her first great-grandchild due in July, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews that will forever miss their Mom, Meemom and Aunt Del.

The family wants to extend our heartfelt appreciation to all the kind and compassionate people from Angel Guardian ALF and also Vitas Hospice of Merritt Island, Fla. for the wonderful care they gave her, for that we are all eternally grateful.

We ask that family and friends join us for a celebration of Adele and Jack's life which will be held at 12 noon Saturday, April 2 on the 5th Street pavilion in Beach Haven. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in their names be made to the Beach Haven Volunteer Fire Co. #1.

To my family, while I know the pain of loss is great right now, we can be certain of a few things. First, that Meemom has found her PeePop where celestial rewards are bestowed.Second, that No disease or physical limitations can or will stop them now as they join for eternity. Their undying love is just that. Adele, may you be safe in the arms of Jesus, your tears now only of joy and find your soulmate, Jack, forever. To the Scheimreifs on Earth, I wish you peace and the same eternal love Jack and Adele had for each other.

David,Gary and family,
I very sorry to hear of Adele's passing. I have nothing but good memories of fun times with Jack" and "Del".
Mom and Dad always thought of them as
their good friends and so did I.
I will never forget or ever have a better "black duck" dinner than the annual get together after the season.
When I think back on the "good old days" they will always be part of it.
Be well and go easy,
Mike Bell
