Anna Danowitz Obituary

Anna K. Danowitz

AGE: 93 • Boynton Beach, FL

Mrs. Anna K. Danowitz of Boynton Beach, FL, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015. She was 93. A longtime resident of Little Silver, NJ, she was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Chester Danowitz.

Daughter of William and Regina Barrington, Anna grew up in Woodbury, NJ. Coming from a musical family, she began piano lessons at age 5 and continued music and performance studies throughout her life. After completing the Commercial course at Woobury Junior-Senior High School, she took a job at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard where she met Lt. Chester Danowitz. In the summer of 1945, she made a cross-country train trip to marry him at the U.S. Naval base in Bremerton, WA. She then returned by plane to New Jersey, where she lived happily with her husband for many years.

She is survived by three children, William Danowitz of Fair Haven, NJ, Regina Coppers of South Florida, and Ann Danowitz of Sonoita, AZ. She also has 6 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. An accomplished pianist, music teacher and entertainer, she accompanied singers and choruses in a variety of performance venues. She was a longtime member of the Little Silver Woman's Club, serving as president and Music Director for several years. Anna enjoyed the family holidays, especially summer picnics in the backyard, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Boynton Memorial Chapel is handling local arrangements. A memorial service will be held in Fair Haven, NJ in the near future.

Since Anna was devoted to her pets and a longtime supporter of the ASPCA, consider a donation in her honor to ASPCA, 424 East 92nd St., New York, NY10128 or donate to the website at ASPCA.org.
