Anthony Longo Obituary

Anthony Longo

AGE: 56 • Marina Del Ray, CA

Anthony "Tony" Longo, age 56, passed away at his home in Marina Del Ray, California on June 20, 2015. Tony was born in Jersey City NJ, attended OLM Grammar School, Marist High School in Bayonne, and the University of Rhode Island (URI) where he studied Drama. In 1979 he relocated to Los Angeles where he started a lifelong successful acting career.

Tony was predeceased by his father Anthony in 2003, and is survived by his devoted mother Eleanor of Belmar NJ, his brother Michael, sister-in-law Melody, and nephews Tyler, Tanner, and Travis, all of Belmar NJ. He is also survived by loving daughters Chloe and Danielle of Los Angeles CA.

Tony will always be remembered for bringing smiles to the faces of his many friends and relatives. He was a natural storyteller and brought laughter to everyone he encountered. The entertaining stories from his Hollywood lifestyle will be remembered by all for years to come. Tony was a sports enthusiast having played football, basketball, and baseball in high School. He continued his football career at URI, and carried his athleticism to the big screen. His acting credits include a recurring role on the hit TV series Alice. In that same year he did his first 3 films, 16 Candles, Splash, and Fletch. Next he was cast as a series regular in Helltown, his first of 6 television series over a 30 year span. Others included 1st & Ten (HBO's first successful series) as Mad Dog, Police Academy, and Shaky Ground. He has also done over 100 guest spots on every type of show.

Tony was known for bringing innocence and realism to the various roles he played, and he seemed to find his home in feature films. He may be best remembered for his humorous role as the catcher in Angels in the Outfield. He co-starred in Houseguest, Flintstones Viva Las Vegas, Eraser, Last Boyscout, Suburban Commando, Tarzan, and Rapid Fire. He was recently working on his 100th+ film as a character actor.

His favorite quote was "God's clock is in a different time zone, but it's always on time".

A private celebration of his life will be held in December.
