Anthony Thompson Obituary

Anthony Thompson

Point Pleasant Beach - Anthony Thompson, age 91, of Point Pleasant Beach, passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at home surrounded by his family. Born and raised in Belfast Northern Ireland, he and his beautiful wife Ceil came to the United States in 1952. They spent a few years in Kearny NJ then moved to Little Ferry where they raised their family.

He retired after 33 years and he and his wife enjoyed traveling between their homes in Ballycastle, Northern Ireland and Sun City, AZ. He was a devoted husband and lived a rich and happy life. They spent many years walking around the hills of Ballycastle, parks of Arizona and the Point Pleasant Beach boardwalk.

Whether it was helping others or telling funny stories, he loved nothing more than spending time with his family and friends. He will be remembered by friends and neighbors for his uplifting outlook on life, love of music and old movies, and quick wit and sense of humor. He was a ray of sunshine to everyone he met. One of his favorite hobbies was star gazing with his daughter, Maureen, who shared the same passion.

Anthony was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Celine Thompson, in 2012 and his son, Joseph A. Thompson, in 2007. He is survived by his son Patrick Thompson of Middletown; three daughters, Kathleen Knese and her husband, Paul, of Philadelphia, Maureen Thompson of Pt. Pleasant Beach and Anne Kaczala and her husband, Stephen, of Normandy Beach; his brother, George Thompson of Belfast, Northern Ireland; 4 grandchildren: TJ, Katherine, Caitlin, and Jack; and 1 great-grandson, Charles. He is remembered with love by the Hart Family.

The family will receive relatives and friends for a viewing on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, from 2PM - 4PM and 7PM to 9PM at Colonial Funeral Home, 2170 Highway 88, Brick. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 11:00 AM at St. Martha's RC Church in Pt. Pleasant. Cremation will be private. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.colonialfuneralgroup.com

Tony was a great neighbor (as was Maureen) to my mother, Rita in PPBeach. His visits were always something to look forward too. He was a great story teller. Our condolences to all. Rita Bausch Anderson and son John.

Uncle Tony, you were always the person I wanted to sit next to at any family get together! Full of fun, stories and laughter. Thankfully you have passed these traits down to your children.
Thank you for the laughs and the love. You will be greatly missed.
