Barbara A. Walsh

Manchester - Barbara Walsh (nee Tafilowski) passed peacefully into the Lord's care, surrounded by family on February 26th at Abington Jefferson Health in Abington, PA at the age of 74. Daughter of the late William Tafilowski and Anne Stangreciak, Barbara was born in Newark. She attended Red Bank Catholic High School, Mount St. Mary's Convent and graduated from Brookdale Community College. She resided in Long Branch for 42 years before moving to Manchester in 2007. She worked as a librarian for Telos in Fort Monmouth, Eatontown and as a Community Representative for Fort Monmouth. Barbara was a compassionate woman with an endless appreciation for God's gifts in everyone and everywhere she traveled. She was a patient, gentle, and loving wife, mother and grandmother whose devotion to Ed, her children and grandchildren she planted like seeds ever blossoming in their minds and hearts. Her never-ending optimism was a comfort to all that knew her. She was kindness, embracing Jesus' instruction to love others as one would wish to be loved. She generously shared the fruits of her love of gardening and knitting. Her Catholic faith was witnessed in her countless works of charity (Helping Hands, extraordinary minister for St. Luke's Church) and the legacy of faith present in her children and grandchildren. She was blessed in her final days to be cared for with great compassion at Abington Hospital. Barbara is survived by her beloved husband of 51 years, Edward, daughter Peg Walsh, son Bill & wife Amy, daughter Liz Corita & husband BJ Peters and Patrick & wife Melonie; grandchildren Brandon, Briana, Laurel, Jack, Patrick, Gwen, & Greta; great-grandchildren Ella & Aura. Visitation is Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Oliverie Funeral Home 2925 Ridgeway Rd Manchester. Funeral Liturgy is 9 Am at St Luke's Church, Toms River with interment to follow at Brigadier Gen Wm C Doyle NJ Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown.
