Brian Francis Birmingham

AGE: 50 • Morristown

Brian Francis Birmingham, 50, of Morristown, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2013, after a long fight with cancer. Born in New York City, Brian grew up in Freehold and lived with his wife and family in Morristown for the past 21 years. He graduated from Boston University in 1984, in 1990 received an MBA from Rutgers University and later became a Chartered Financial Analyst. Brian had a successful professional career in retirement financial management, working for Prudential Financial, NJ, Genworth Financial, Richmond, VA, and most recently retiring as Chief Marketing Officer, AXA Equitable, New York City. Brian was very involved in his community, especially serving as a board member of the Unity Charter School in Morristown.

He is survived by his wife, Roberta Veit Birmingham and his two children, Victoria and David of Morristown; his mother, Mary T. Evans, State College, PA; his brother, Kevin (Diane) and his two nieces, Sara and Emily, Port Matilda, PA. He was predeceased by his father, Charles J. Birmingham, New Port Richey, FL and his stepfather, George J. Evans Jr., Freehold. A true modern-day Renaissance man, Brian will be sorely missed by his family, friends and co-workers.

Visitation was from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, May 13 at Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home, Madison. Funeral service was held at 12 noon Tuesday, May 14 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Habitat for Humanity, or your favorite local charity.

I worked with Brian at Prudential many years ago. We tested the PESP/PIP systems. Brian was intelligent, had a keen sense of humor and spoke of his family fondly. My condolences to his family.
