AGE: 64 • Carteret

Catherine M. Fitzsimmons, 64, died Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy. Born in Elizabeth, she was a lifelong resident of Carteret. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Elizabeth (Kenney) Fitzsimmons and one brother, Donald. She is survived two brothers, Patrick (Patricia) and John (Donna) Fitzsimmons; and three sisters, Mary Plinio (Richard), Maureen Psomas (Anthony), and Erin Mennor (Robert). Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will take place on Tuesday, 9:30 AM at St. Joseph RC Church, Carteret. Interment will follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Arrangements are under the direction of the Rumpf Funeral Home, 21 Locust Street, Carteret. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

I was Cathy's Next door neighbor and she was in my class at St. Joes from Kindergarten thru Carteret High graduation. She was a wonderful person and will be missed.

Cathy was a life giving spiritual compassionate, kind hearted and giving individual who shared many moments with me in the CCD program at St. Josephs. She will be missed.
