CLAUDE EDISON GILLIARD, JR.
AGE: 54 FORMERLY OF LONG BRANCH
Claude Edison Gilliard, Jr., 54, formerly of Long Branch, departed this life on Saturday, August 7, 2010 in Columbus, Ohio. He was a security guard for the Smith Detective Service in Ohio before becoming disabled in 2008. Prior to that he was a Maitre d' at the Ocean Place Hotel in Long Branch for several years. Mr. Gilliard was a 1974 graduate of Long Branch High School where he excelled in basketball. Born in Long Branch, he lived there before moving to Columbus in 2000.
He was predeceased by his parents, Claude, Sr. and Lila Dean Gilliard and by two brothers, Sylvester and Ronald Gilliard. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife Dawn Hollie-Gilliard, his step son Brandon Harwell, his two daughters, Sierra Stovall of Long Branch and Jara Slatter of Richmond, VA, his mother in law, Gwendolyn Shealey of Columbus, his father in law, Michael Hollie of Toledo, OH, five brothers, Kevin, Mitchell, Robert, Donald and Michael all of Long Branch, three sisters Dottie Jackson and her husband Robert of Neptune and Cathy and Susan Gilliard of Long Branch and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
The viewing will be Tuesday, from 10:00 AM with funeral service beginning at 12:00 noon at the Long Branch Church of God, Third and Garfield Avenues, Long Branch with Bishop Richard Worsley officiating. The Flock Funeral Home, Long Branch is in charge of arrangements.
