Declan F. Welch, 78, of Neptune, passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2017. Born on August 27, 1939, Declan was a lifelong resident of Neptune. He was a proud graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point in 1961. He served as an engineer on American Export Lines, First Atomic Export Lines and Gulf Oil Trading and Transport until 1985. He also worked for Westinghouse Electric and Power assembling steam generators at Indian Point, N.Y., American Smelting and Refining Co., Perth Amboy, PSE&G Salem Generating Station, and Rutgers University until his retirement in 2006. He was a member of Hamilton United Methodist Church and a member of AMMV Dennis A. Roland Eastern Branch. Declan loved and cherished his family. He is survived by his loving wife Barbara, his children Andrew Welch, Kenneth Welch, Susan and Michael Mahoney, Christopher and Brenda GaNun, Michelle GaNun, Michael GaNun, Laura and George Anderson as well as his grandchildren Dana Welch, Nolan Welch, Jonah Welch, Payton Mahoney, Sean Mahoney, Belinda GaNun, Katelyn GaNun, Tiffanie GaNun, Victoria Alaniz, David GaNun, Andrew GaNun, Annabella GaNun and Ashley Anderson. Family and friends are invited to the viewing at 10AM followed by the funeral service at 12PM on Friday, November 10, 2017 at Hamilton United Methodist Church, Neptune.
