Donn Baker, 85, of Middletown, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, Nov. 24, 2013, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank, after a short illness. He was born in Morris Plains and grew up in the South Orange area. He was a graduate of Columbia High School in Maplewood and Stevens Institute of Technology. He was a resident of Middletown for the past 48 years. Donn retired from Bell Telephone Laboratories in 1987 after 35 years as a Member of Technical Staff and Supervisor. He was a life member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and Telephone Pioneers. He enjoyed model railroads, road rallying, and his classic Corvette.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Joyce Scott Baker; daughters, Tracey Birch and her husband Russell of Clearwater, FL, Holly Miller and her husband Jeffrey of Oceanport; five grandchildren, James, Kathryn, and Sarah Birch; Sean and Henry Miller; his nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as his beloved dog, Boomer. He was predeceased by his brother, Evan Baker and step brothers, Charles and W. Lee Terrill.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14 at the First Presbyterian Church of Red Bank, 255 Harding Road, Red Bank, NJ 07701. Visitation with the family will be prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m. in the narthex.
