AGE: 96 • Whiting

Doris A. Benton, 95, of Whiting died October 22, 2017. Doris worked at Kay Jewelers, Boca Raton, FL, before retiring. Born in Kearney, she resided in Staten Island, NY, Navesink, NJ, Jupiter, FL and Milton, WV before moving to Whiting in 2006.

Doris was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton R.C. Church, Whiting. Doris was past President of the Navesink Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and past Den Mother for several years for Navesink Boy Scouts of America.

Doris was predeceased by her first husband, Eugene Cuny in 1963, her second husband, Paul Benton in 1990, her son, Eugene Cuny, Jr., in 2005, her grandson, Barry Wayne Cuny in 2017 and her step-daughter, Sandra Dougherty. Doris is survived by her son, Richard Cuny and his wife, Catherine of Toms River, her step-son, Paul Benton, her step-daughter, Valerie Stern, 10 grandchildren, Kimberly Cuny, Julie Schaffer, Shelly Cuny, Jonathin Cuny, Jennifer Cuny, Donna Doherty, Jack P. Stern, Todd M. Stern, James Doherty, Roger Benton, and 9 great-grandchildren, Krystiana, Alayna, Olivia, Catherine, William, Jack, Elyse, Charlene and Spencer. Doris is also survived by her extended family, Merry Stern and devoted earth angel, Byna Sailor.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:45 AM Saturday November 11, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton R.C. Church, 30 Schoolhouse Rd., Whiting. Arrangements by DeGraff Lakehurst Funeral Home, Lakehurst.
