Edwin C. Boyle, 87, of Milltown NJ entered eternal rest on July 15, 2017 in Woodbridge VA after a long illness.

Edwin was born in Patterson NJ, the second son of Joseph and Rachel (Bryans) Boyle who preceded him in life, and grew up in Rahway NJ, graduating from Rahway High School in 1947. Enlisting in the US Navy in 1950, he served as a radioman aboard the destroyer USS AMMEN, and was honorably discharged in 1954, having served during the Korean War. He attended college on the GI Bill, earning his bachelor's degree with highest honors from the University of Massachusetts and completed his master's degree in Textile Technology at the University of North Carolina's Institute of Textile Technology in 1961. His career spanned over 40 years with companies such as Burlington Industries, American Cyanamid, Union Carbide, and others specializing in Quality Control and mechanical process design. He held a US Patent, and contributed to advanced work in polymer chemistry.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lucille (Gouin) Boyle at home, son Bryan of Morrisville PA, Karen Buchanan of Morrisville PA, daughter Maureen (Boyle) Beckerman and husband Jay, grandchildren Michael and Jacqueline of Woodbridge VA, sister Elsie, sister-in-law Violet, and nieces and nephews. He lived his life as gentleman of quiet honor and integrity, and was known as a man who kept his word and could be relied upon to do what was right even while battling the physical limitations he faced.

Family will receive friends on Monday July 24, 2017 from 2-4pm & 6-8pm at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals 809 Central Ave. Seaside Park, NJ. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered on Tuesday July, 25, 2017 at 11am at St. Catharine of Siena RC church in Seaside Park, NJ. Burial will follow to BG William C Doyle Veterans Cemetery.
