AGE: 63 • Toms River
Eileen G. Smith (nee, Griffin), 63, of Toms River, passed away on July 24, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. Born in New York, NY she grew up in River Edge, NJ. She was a graduate of Hackensack Hospital Nursing School in 1971 and was then employed at Hackensack University Medical Center for 20 years. After moving to Toms River in 1990, she was a Visiting Nurse at Community Medical Center for 22 years. She was a faithful member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society of St. Justin's Church. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and "Nanny". Eileen loved her work as a Visiting Nurse; she touched many lives and was beloved by her co-workers and patients.
Eileen is predeceased by her parents, John and Margaret Griffin. Surviving is her husband of 40 years, Charles Smith; two children, Julia Halka and her husband Bill and Patrick Smith and his wife Stacy; a grandson, Matthew; her brother, Thomas Griffin and his wife Carla, her sister, Patricia Massey and her husband Thomas; and her brother, John Griffin; also surviving are numerous beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013 at Saint Justin's Church, 975 Fischer Blvd., Toms River, NJ 08753. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Mastapeter Funeral Home in Bayville. For online condolences, please go to mastapeterfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Van Dyke Hospice Center at Community Medical Center, 99 Rt. 37 W, Toms River, NJ 08755.

I remember Eileen's smiling face from River Dell High School. She was most gentle person I know, and I am sure she touched everyone who met her. My deepest condolences to her family and friends. I know she will be missed. (I am very sorry for my mistaken post on FB - what more can I say).

Eileen was a beautiful person inside and out. Everyone loved her! I am saddened that she is gone. Heaven has gained a beautiful angel. Deepest sympathy to Charlie and their family.

I remember Eileen as being one of the first to introduce herself to me
when I joined the Barnabas Home Care family. Every morning there
was a beautiful smile and a warm hello. She is a “true
angel” who has made such an impact with anyone she came into

Working with Eileen has been one of the greatest honors of my life. It has been a blessing for the past six years to experience at first hand the pure generosity and kindness of such an eloquent soul. I truly believe that like a ship moving over the horizon she is not gone but just a little farther away and I will see her again.
She left us early but God has seen enough and knew she was ready to be an Angel.

Eileen was truly one of the most beautiful people I have ever met. I had the pleasure of knowing her for 22 years. I am truly grateful for all she has given to Barnabas Health Home Care.
