Brenda Renea Smith

Brenda Renea Smith, 70, passed away February 7, 2026 in Oklahoma City, OK. She was born January 26, 1956 in Tulsa, OK to Leroy and Wilma (Malone) Mitchell. Brenda graduated from Bethany Nazarene College (now Southern Nazarene University) with a degree in music education. It was there that she met the love of her life, Mark Smith, and they were married on July 2, 1977.

Brenda enjoyed a successful 28-year career as a music teacher with the Oklahoma City Public School System. A gifted musician, she loved to sing and played both the piano and organ beautifully. Brenda never met a stranger-she loved to laugh, be silly, and bring joy wherever she went.

She adored her five grandchildren, who knew that holidays with her were always made into something special. Brenda also loved dogs and cherished her daily walks. One of her greatest joys was driving her beloved 1956 Bel Air, a treasured gift she received for her 50th birthday.

A woman of deep faith, Brenda was a devoted follower of Christ and attended Bethany First Church of the Nazarene.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Darrell Mitchell.

She is survived by her husband, Mark; children, Allison (Jeff) White, Meredith Garrett, and Tim (Whitney) Smith; grandchildren, Ethan, Grayson, Brooklyn, Sutton and Hannah; sister, Frances Scivally; mother-in-law, Elvera Smith; sister-in-law, Karolyn (Stan) Kano; and sister-in-law, Cathy (Chris) Hake.
