Frank Mongelli Obituary
AGE: 75 • Monroe Twp.
Frank Mongelli, 75, died peacefully, at his residence, with his wife by his side on Tuesday, July 17, 2012. Born in Toritto (Bari), Italy, Frank, moved to the United States in 1958. He resided for most of his life in Edison before moving to Monroe Twp. in 2005. Frank was the owner of Frank's Hair Stylist in Perth Amboy, NJ. During the 1950's and 60's he was an avid participant in the contest circuit for hairdressing. In 1962 he won the coveted World Championship in Hairdressing, competing against 285 of the best contestants from across the world. Frank won the NJ and CT State Hairdressing Titles, winning each 3 years in a row. In addition he was also the recipient of the Golden Shear Award. After a long career in hairstyling, Frank, became interested in the restaurant business. He opened, operated, and owned Franco's Restaurant in Iselin, NJ for 7 years. Frank was a "jack of all trades," and enjoyed painting, tending to his garden and there was nothing he could or would not do for his family and friends. Frank was also a member of the Bocci Team at the Renaissance of Monroe and was an avid bowler.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Carole (Provenzano) of Monroe Twp.; two daughters, Marissa Maselli and her husband Tony, Dana Mongelli - Plowucha and her husband Christopher both of Milltown, NJ; four grandchildren, Dominick, Nicolette, Vinny, and Nina; a brother, John and his wife Anna of Richfield, NJ; two sisters, Mary and Concetta both of Italy. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Frank is predeceased by his brother, Joe (2009).
A funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, July 20th at St. Anthony of Padua R.C.C., 251 Franklin St., Hightstown, NJ. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Burial Park Mausoleum, South Brunswick, NJ. Visiting hours will be Thursday, July 19th from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Township, NJ. For further information please visit our website www.demarco funeralhome.com. Mr mongelli(Frank) you will be missed ; your warmth and kindness, I remember the way you and my dad were like brothers.. He loved you so as we all did..You have now joined him in heaven and you both can now share the laughs and special times together once again..
