Vito Mongelli, 81, of Lyndhurst, peacefully passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2025 with courage and strength after his 18 year battle with Parkinson's disease. Born in Molfetta, Italy, Vito migrated at the age of 8 to Ingeniero White, Bahia Blanca, Argentina where he lived with his family for 13 years. He migrated to the United States in 1965 at the age of 21 where he met and married his beloved wife and started his family in Union City, NJ. In 1976, he and his family moved to Wallington where they lived for 45 years until moving to Lyndhurst in 2016. He was a mason for over 55 years and a member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers, Local 4 and 10. Vito was a skilled mason, bricklayer, and contractor. He cherished spending quality time with his family, loved watching soccer, and enjoyed playing golf and tennis. Above all else, Vito was a man of deep honor, passion, loyalty, and commitment to his wife and family.

Vito is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Antoinette (nee Colucci). Loving father of Rita Ann Paolazzi (nee Mongelli) and her husband, Paul Paolazzi of Lyndhurst, NJ. Adoring grandfather to Jessica R. Paolazzi, Danielle N. Paolazzi, and Alexandra G. Paolazzi. Vito is also survived by his siblings; brothers, Julio Mongelli, Pasquale Mongelli and his wife, Sarafina, and the late Angelo Mongelli and his surviving wife, Elsa as well as his nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Nazare Memorial Home, Inc., 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst, NJ on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 from 6 - 8 PM. All will gather at the funeral home on Thursday, September 4 at 8:30 AM then to Sacred Heart Church, Lyndhurst where at 10 AM, a funeral mass will be offered. Cremation will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Vito's memory to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research online by clicking here. You may express your condolences to Vito's family by using our tribute wall.
