Known to some as 'Doc" and to others as "General", Harold C. Morgan was an adventurous, kind and loving father of nine children. It is with heartfelt grief and sadness that we, his adoring family, announce that his soul took one last flight as he departed our world on October 8, 2017.

Harold Charles Morgan was born March 9, 1930 in Pittsburgh, PA. He was the second of three sons born to Clara and Bennie Morgan. Harold attended Taylor-Allderdice High School in Squirrel Hill and received his undergraduate and graduate medical degrees from the University of Pittsburgh.

After graduation from medical school, Dr. Morgan interned at McKeesport Hospital in Pennsylvania and entered the military under the Doctor's Draft. He was commissioned as First Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force Medical Corps in 1955. He trained as a Flight Surgeon at Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas where he completed the Primary Course in Aviation. General Morgan was assigned to Etain-Rouvres Air Base, France and then Bitburg, Germany as a Flight Surgeon until June 1959. After he finished in Germany, Dr. Morgan completed his OB/GYN residency at Wilford Hall, Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. He was then assigned to March Air Force Base in California, as the Assistant Chief of OB/GYN until July 1965. He was then commissioned to Evreux Air Base, France as Chief of OB/GYN and as Chief of Surgical Services.

In 1966, after 10 years of active duty, General Morgan left France to begin a private medical practice in Brick, NJ. He continued his military service and joined the Air National Guard at McGuire Air Force Base with the 33rd Medical Service Squadron. In 1968, General Morgan was assigned as Flight Surgeon with the 108th Tactical Hospital New Jersey Air National Guard. In July 1970, he became Hospital Commander and the New Jersey Air Surgeon. In 1984, he was transferred to the Military Airlift Command with Headquarters at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois where he had 22 units under his command and was responsible for the integration of 22 aero medical units into the Air Force upon mobilization. On January 31, 1985 he was promoted to Brigadier General of the United States Air Force.

During his military career, General Morgan attended the Air Force War College, the Army War College and the National Security College. He received his pilot's license for non-instrument flying and spent most of his flying time in in the F4 Fighter jet.

General Morgan's awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit Award, Air Force Commendation Medal, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Armed Services Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award and the Governor's Unit Award. Throughout his career, Dr. Morgan was involved with the Jewish War Veterans and was a 32nd degree Mason.

Dr. Morgan spent over 40 years working in his private medical practice, spending the last few years in Australia and New Zealand. During his active years of private practice he worked at Point Pleasant Hospital, Paul Kimball Hospital, Brick Hospital and Jersey Shore Medical Center. He was active in the medical community and his medical civic affiliations included the American College of OB/GYN; NJ Obstetrical Society; Alliance of National Guard Flight Surgeons; Association of Military Surgeons; Aerospace Medical Association; American Board of OB/GYN and a past president of the Ocean County Medical Society.

Dr. Morgan's greatest reward in life, aside from his family, was the new life he brought into the world across the globe; having delivered babies in Texas, California, NY, NJ, Australia, New Zealand, Saipan, France, Germany, and Haiti. Even in his early 80's he volunteered twice after the earthquake in Haiti, providing medical services to earthquake survivors. After his retirement from private practice, he was always generous with his time counseling friends and family and offering medical guidance to anyone in need. He enjoyed many close relationships with his friends and patients and will always be remembered as a paternal figure, and a caring, dedicated, loving, and talented doctor.

Dr. Morgan is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 46 years, Diane "Din Din" Morgan, his son Dr. Allen Morgan and wife Hagit, his daughter Michelle Vitiello and husband Joseph, his son Dr. Steven Morgan and his wife Shari, his son Dr. Daniel Morgan and his wife Lydia, his daughter Sara Jones and her husband Brian, his daughter Rachel Micah-Jones and her husband Jonathan, his son Dr. Benjamin Morgan and his wife Dr. Illiana, his son Dr. Aaron Morgan and his wife Allison, his daughter-in-law Kathleen Morgan, 31 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Dr. Morgan was predeceased by his first wife Kathleen "Kitty" DiMento and his eldest son Dr. Ellis David Morgan.

Relatives and friends are welcome to honor his memory on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Colonial Funeral Home, 2170 Highway 88 in Brick, NJ from 5:00 - 9:00pm. The family will be sitting Shiva at his home in Brick on Sunday, October 15, 2017. On Monday, October 16 we will be sitting shiva at the home of Dr. Allen Morgan starting at 7pm. Burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.
