Irene Meklune

AGE: 95 • Carteret

Irene Meklune, 95, of Carteret passed away June 14th at JFK Medical Center, Edison. Born in Woodbridge, Irene was a lifelong resident of Carteret. She with her husband Henry were the owner-operators of Mac's Auto Body Shop in Carteret. After her husband Henry's passing in 1983 she managed the business with her son Henry. Irene was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Carteret, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Mt. Zion Chapter #116, a member of the Hill Seniors and the Carteret Day Seniors Group.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Elizabeth Palko; her husband, Henry R. Meklune in 1983; two brothers, Joseph and Roland Palko.

Irene is survived by her three children, Linda Stuart and her husband, Richard of Morganville, Henry Meklune and his wife, Susan of Morganville, Donna Marie Pardee and her husband, Dennis of Morganville; four grandchildren, Kristine Wright and her husband, Michael, Elizabeth Betz and her husband, Darryl, Douglas Pardee, Dara Lynn Pardee and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 19th from the Chubenko Funeral Home 625 Port Reading Avenue, Port Reading followed by private cremation.

Visitation will be held 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The Eastern Star will hold ritual at 7:30 p.m. To send condolences visit www.chubenkofh.com
