Jacob Babich

AGE: 88 • Las Vegas, NV

Jacob Babich died Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at home, surrounded by his family. He was 88. Born in East Brunswick, he resided there with his wife Anna until they moved to Seattle Washington in 1988. In 2007 due to his poor health they moved to Las Vegas where his son Daniel took care of him at home until his death. Prior to his retirement in 1982, he was a quality control inspector for the Ford Motor Company in Metuchen, where he worked for 25 years. He was an Army veteran, having served after World War II. He was a lifelong member of the First Russian Baptist Church in South River where he served as treasurer for 20 years.

His parents were the late Sedor and Julia Babich. He was predeceased by a brother, Rev. Paul Babich aged 89 in 2014, and a sister, Mary (Babs) Leonovich aged 82 in 2005. Surviving are his wife with 62 years of devoted marriage, Anna Martynovych Babich; a son, Daniel Babich of Las Vegas, NV; two daughters, Sasha Swanson of Las Vegas, NV and Nena Pugh of Seattle, WA; two granddaughters, Cassandra and Christina, and a great granddaughter, Ariana.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at 11:00 AM in the First Russian Baptist Church, South River. Interment will follow at Washington Monumental Cemetery, South River. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Tuesday morning from 10AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Slavic Missionary Service, P.O. Box 469, Annandale, NJ 08801. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Rezem Funeral Home, 457 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick. For online condolences to the family, visit www.rezemfh.com
