James Letts Obituary

James F Letts, III

AGE: 78 • Middletown

James F. "Jimmy" Letts, III 78 of Middletown, NJ died on February 1, 2017 at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank with his teenage sweetheart and forever love, Peggy, by his side. He was born in Long Branch, NJ and lived his whole life in Middletown. James proudly served as a tank driver in the National Guard for over 20 years. He later worked as a movie projectionist and then for the Local 536 at PNC Arts Center in Holmdel, always admired as "Mr. Fix it", master of all trades. In the most recent years, he and his wife, Peggy, passionately ran an antique booth in Red Bank and Jimmy diligently restored many beautiful pieces.

Most importantly to James were his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Always there to rescue them all, he will be sorely missed by those he has left behind - his beloved wife of 55 years, Peggy; five daughters, Susan (Joe) Purwin, Kelly (Jim) Brickle, Lynda Cartier, Jamie (Joe) Gambale, Megann (Todd) Burrus; son, James F. (Melissa) Letts IV; brother, Robert Letts; 19 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

James was preceded in death by his parents, James and Caroline Letts, Jr.; sister, Nancy Monahan; and son-in-law, Jacque Cartier.

A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, February 5, 2017, from 2-5 pm at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown. An entombment service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, February 6, 2017 at Fairview Mausoleum, Middletown.

Dear Peggy,

John and I are sorry we could not visit with you on Sunday and express our sympathies in person. Jim was a fine man who loved the challenges of finding things for the people who frequent the Antiques Center. We enjoyed working with him and wish you and your family peace at this sad time.
