JAMES J. MASON JR.
AGE: 83 WHITING
James J. Mason Jr., 83, of Whiting, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009, in Toms River. He had worked as an engineer for Picatinny Arsenal. James was a member of the Adoration Society of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Elks BPOE, Old Bridge. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., James lived most of his life in Old Bridge before moving to Whiting in 1999.
Surviving are his wife of 10 years, Dolores Mason; a son, Dennis Mason of Wharton; a daughter, Deborah Perhacs of Sayreville; three stepdaughters, Linda Diamont of Long Island, N.Y., Patricia and her husband Allen Kohler of Susquehanna, N.Y., and Deborah and her husband Mike Giordano of Long Island, N.Y.; a granddaughter and her husband, Diane and Tim Jones of Massachusetts; three grandsons, Ryan Mason of Kenville, Mark Mason of Wharton, and Richard and his wife Crystal Jarbeck of Sayreville; four great-grandchildren; and many step-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009 at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 115 Lacey Road, Whiting. A Funeral Mass will be offered at noon Friday, Jan. 23, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Chapel, Whiting. Interment will be in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in James' name to the American Heart Association.
