I was very sorry to hear about Janny's passing. Though she had not been in the best of health for quite a while, you would never know it by the way she was when I last saw her at that same Country Store having a pleasant meal with her lovely daughter-in-law, Alicia. I was with Mom, and Dad was in the hospital at the time, and we just happened to see them there, and she was just as upbeat and bubbly as I will always remember her. She had a beautiful smile and a joyous way about her that made you just happy to be around her. I'm so glad for that chance meeting. Now she is in a much better place and can send prayers from heaven for her beautiful family. We were all blessed to have known her. Our deepest sympathy to both the Smith and Colfer families.

One life touches others in sometimes peculiar ways. Although she has gone to her final reward, our memories of her remain.
Three quick ones come to mind. I was playing with the Dwyer boys on their front lawn on George Pl. in Iselin, when a fancy car stopped in front of the Smith's house and Fr. Dentici got out opened the passenger door and walked Janny to the house. I remember thinking 'wow these Smiths must be Big Shots'. I think I was in first grade at the time. About five years later my father took Ricky Jenkins and me to Yankee Stadium, I was looking around in awe at the place and saw a familiar face about six rows back. I was shy but she recognized me, gave me that big smile and little wave. Many years later I was eating breakfast at the Country Store when a van pulled into the lot, and Janny and Lloyd sat at the table next to me. She told me she wasn't happy about the van. She missed her Miata. The smile and the laugh were still there though; and as I was walking back to my car, for some reason, I felt like a Big Shot.

Aunt Janny is a wonderful soul. When she walked into a room, the whole room would brighten. I have never met a woman who was faced with so much, yet looked it right in the face bravely. She enjoyed life. She was told there were things she could not do and she did them. She traveled more than any other person I know and I enjoyed hearing her stories.

It is hard to imagine life without her. It will surely never be the same. I will continue to watch her Yankees, and shop at our favorite stores. i will make sure Hunter and Mattie hear the great stories about their loving Grandma.

Aunt Janny, we love you and will keep you close to our hearts forever!!

Love, Krissi and Wayne

Dear Smith and Colfer family--My deep condolences on the loss of Janny. I knew her from St. Cecelia's since 1st grade and met up with her again some 20 years ago while at Willow Valley Farms in Lancaster where we were both vacationing. I have thought of her often since then and we did reconnect on the phone occasionally. I am so saddened to hear of her passing and her bright smile and courage will be remembered always..
