Janice L. Tsurutis

AGE: 65 • Tucker, GA

Janice L. Tsurutis, age 65, of Tucker, GA passed away peacefully on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012 at Hospice Atlanta after a long illness. She was born on December 9, 1946 in Sewaren, New Jersey to George and Edith (Jabs) Wasilek. She attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. Janice moved to Atlanta, GA in 1966 to become an assistant buyer at Rich's in downtown Atlanta. After many years in this position she worked as an administrative assistant at various companies until her retirement in 2008. Janice was an active member of the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation. She was a member of the Daughters of Penelope, Menelaos Chapter and served as District Governor for three years. Janice was a dedicated gardener and became a Georgia Master Gardener in 2009. She was a member of the Atlanta Bonsai Society, Georgia Perennial Plant Society, Georgia Hosta Society and the Georgia Dahlia Society.

Janice was married to her beloved husband, Michael, in 1968 and he survives. Also surviving is a son, Stephen Tsurutis of Augusta, GA; and her mother, Edith Wasilek of Sewaren, NJ; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Terry and Georgia Tsurutis of Charleston, SC and her much loved nieces, Andrea and Victoria Tsurutis. She was preceded by her father, George Wasilek and a sister, Anita Cuthbertson. Janice loved her family and church and will be missed by all. May Her Memory Be Eternal.

The funeral was 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 29 at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation, 2500 Clairmont Road N.E. Atlanta, GA with interment immediately following at Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Those desiring memorial contributions may be made to the AHEPA Family District No.1 Educational Fund, 18 Riverside Drive, Charleston, SC 29407. The Trisagion Prayer Service was held 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 28 with visitation from 5-8 p.m. at A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory.
