Jeffrey Durkin Obituary
AGE: 35 • formerly of Matawan
Jeffrey A. Durkin, 35 years of age, loving son and brother, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2011, in Glenwood Springs, CO. He will be remembered with love and respect by all who were privileged to have known him. Jeffrey attended St. Benedict's Grammar School, Holmdel, NJ and Matawan Regional HS in Matawan, NJ. He moved to Colorado in 2006 where he worked as a carpenter and enjoyed the wonderful outdoor activities which he loved so much.
He is survived by his mother and father, Thomas & Elizabeth Durkin, Toms River, NJ; his brother, Matthew and his wife Heather Durkin, Long Branch, NJ; his paternal grandmother, Claire L. Quinn of Staten Island, NY; his Aunt Christine Watson and her husband Thomas; his Aunt Michele Durkin; cousins, Thomas and Claire B. Watson, Jaclyn and Erica Durkin, all of Staten Island, NY.
There will be a memorial celebration of his life in Toms River, NJ to be announced in the near future.

I wanted to thank you for letting me be apart of Jeff's tribute to his life. I know you was such a great friend to me and also to many others. I will always remember him as being my true best friend. He has touched my life forever. Jeff will be greatly missed. He lives on in all of those that loved him. He will always be close to my heart. Until we meet again, my friend.

Thank you Durkin Family for the wonderful friend you gave me for such a large portion of my life. Working with Jeffrey at the bagel shop never really seemed like work, thanks to his jovial spirit. He always knew how to make the day seem less tedious. I loved and will continue to love Jeff as though he was my own brother. And I thank you for giving the world such a beautiful soul to enjoy for the brief but intense time that anyone of us had him in our lives. My heart is with you during this difficult time. Take comfort in knowing that Jeff's memory will live on in every one of his many friends. May you find peace in one another.

I haven't seen Jeff since high school, but I'll never forget that impish grin or how unbelievably funny he was. He was such a warm and caring guy and words can't even express the profound sorrow I feel upon hearing of his passing. Please accept my heartfelt condolences in this difficult time.

Dear Durkin Family,
My deepest condoloences to your family. I know that here in Colorado, Jeff will be deeply missed. I will miss sitting on the stoop with Jeff. We shared much joy, laughter, and times of destress together. Often, we held each other up when the other was down. Jeff will always be with us. He will be greatly missed but always in my heart.

Its always the hardest when a parent has to bury a child...but rest assured God needed his angel more that we did.
I know he had a fantastic journey here and he is just starting another one, so lets continue to celebrate his life.

Jeff was an awesome guy. I knew him before I can remember. I have only great memories and great stories of such a dynamic guy, who in many ways was like a brother to me. My family and I give Jeff's family, Tom, Betty, and Matt, our most sincere condolences during this difficult time.

I have so many wonderful memories of Jeff during our time at camp and the times he had me stay over at the house in Silver Beach. Both Jeff and Matt saved my life one summer when I had an issue with the undertow and I have told my children the story many times. Jeff you will always be in my memories and I am so sorry for this terrible loss.

Words can not express the loss I feel for you and your family. Jeffrey was my life long friend, and I would easily call him my best friend. He was incredibly smart, and funny, and just an all around wonderful person to have in your life. Mere words cant describe the sorrow I feel for your family at this tragic time of Jeff's passing. He was a great friend to many, a comedian who could make anyone laugh even if they were having the worst day of their lives. Jeff was one of a kind and you could not help but to be drawn to his personality. I miss you so much Jeff, i'll always keep you close to my heart and soul.
