Jennie McLaughlin McCarthy, 97, of South Amboy died Tuesday October 29, 2013 at Briarwood Care Center, Morgan. Born in Freehold, she lived in South Amboy most of her life. Before retiring she was employed by the City of South Amboy in the Senior Citizens Center and prior to that at Perth Amboy General Hospital. She was a member of St. Mary's R.C. Church, South Amboy and the South Amboy Senior Citizens.

Daughter of the late Frank and Emma McLaughlin, she was also predeceased by her husband, Frank P. McCarthy in 1966, her sons, Thomas and Harold McCarthy, her daughters, Frances Lasso and Eileen McCarthy, her brothers, George, Harold and Francis "Fritz" McLaughlin, her sister, Caroline McCarthy and her grandsons, Gary and Kyle McCarthy. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Patrick and Liz McCarthy and Kevin and Cathy McCarthy, all of South Amboy; her sister in law, Ann McCarthy of Tuckerton; her grandchildren, Brian, Kelly Ann, Keith, Jennifer, Lori, Lisa and Kiersten and her great grandchildren, Justin, Daniel, Emily, Jackson, Grady, Nicole, Danielle and Aiden.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday November 2, 2013 at 8:45 am from The Gundrum Service "Home For Funerals" 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by a 9:30 am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, South Amboy. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, South Amboy. Visitation will be on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Memorial donations may be made to the South Amboy First Aid Squad P.O.
