I served with John in the Marine Corps 61-63 at Barbers Point NAS Hawaii and was in contact with him via E Mail a few years back.
He was a fine fellow and a sharp Marine.

My condolences to the entire Cosgrove family. I have been friends with John for 30 years. I first met him when he was a broker at Guy Carpenter back in the 80's.
He was a client of mine and we got along great from day one. He was my favorite guest at many insurance industry functions over the years because he had a great sense of humor and a wonderful personality.
I always respected him as a great family man and a very bright individual with an amazing memory for names of friends going back to junior and senior high school. He also was a great athlete. I could never beat him in racquetball back in the mid 90's. I will always cherish his wisdom and our friendship.

I remember our first meeting on John Street in NY and discussing our move to Hartford. We laughed about the long commutes we were going to have! A great man and I truly enjoyed working with him for many years.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Best, John and Judi Threlfall

John was a great family man and a good friend. I will miss our weekly discussion.
He has fought the fight and won the race.
The final goal is eternal rest. He now sits at the right hand of God.
As the Irish Blessing states: "Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand.

I worked in the same office with John at Guy Carpenter in the 1980s and 1990s. He was a lovely and generous man. I am sorry to hear of his passing.
