John H. Doerr, 56, of Union Beach, passed away, Wednesday, August 10, 2016, in his home. He was born in New Brunswick, NJ, grew up in Keyport, NJ, and later resided with his family in Union Beach, NJ. John owned and operated John Doerr Custom Tiles for 35 years in which he later taught his two sons to carry on his legacy. He spent time at the VFW in Keyport where he enjoyed playing pool with his friends. John was an avid Mets and Jets fan and loved watching the games with his wife and kids, wearing the team's gear from head to toe. He liked to sit and drive in his truck, that he often called his "office." He had his backyard hang out place that he called his "clubhouse". One of his most favorite times of the day was when he sat and played chess with his sons. He also loved playing with his two dogs, Bear and Abby, with his daughter. John dutifully served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp for 12 years.

John was predeceased by his father, Harold "Tex" Doerr; his mother, Theresa "Tes" (Biez) Ross; his stepfather, DuWayne "Pop-Pop" Ross; his stepmother, Lori Doerr and his father-in-law, John G. Dayback, Sr. He is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Kathleen (Dayback) Doerr; his loving children, John Robert Doerr, Sean Doerr and his wife Amanda, and Mary Doerr and her fiancé, Stephen Keller; his adored mother-in-law, Mary E. Dayback; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John Dayback, Dennis Dayback and wife Linda, Susan LoSapio and husband Mario, Tom Dayback and wife Kathy, and Mary-Jean Riccardi; his cherished grandson, Logan John Doerr; his adored nieces and nephews, Kristin and husband Joe, Ryan and wife Jessica, Jaclyn, Anna, Kristina, Courtney, Diana, Louis and wife Danielle, Kaitlyn and husband Kevin, Tommy, Melissa and husband Bob, and Elizabeth; many great nieces and great nephews; and many friends, some from his childhood. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, August 14, 2016, from 4-8PM, at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ 07735; and Monday, August 15, 2016, 9AM at the funeral home, with a 10AM Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Family RC Church, Union Beach.
