JOHN R. MORAN SR.
AGE: 82 NEPTUNE
John R. Moran Sr., 82, of Neptune, passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at home with his wife by his side. He was born in Lock Haven, Pa. and has lived in Neptune for the past 47 years. John served during the Korean War with the U.S. Army. Upon his graduation from Penn State University, John worked as a journalist for The Newark Evening News and later in sales. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New York Giants. John was a devoted follower of Penn State athletics and bled Penn State blue and white. He was a communicant of Holy Innocents Church in Neptune, as well as a member of the American Legion Post #346 and the Asbury Park - Wall Lodge 128 BPO Elks.
John is survived by his loving wife, Mary Moran of Neptune; his sons, Kevin Moran and his wife Lynne of Ocean, Michael Moran and his wife Susan of Ocean, and John Moran Jr. and his wife Patricia of Neptune; his daughter, Mary DelPizzo and her husband Joseph of Neptune City; and his grandchildren, John, Melissa, Alyssa, Sean, Kelly and Joey.
Friends and family are invited to visit from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 21 at the Ely Funeral Home, 3316 Highway 33, Neptune. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 22 at Holy Innocents Church, Neptune, followed by the interment in St. Anne's Cemetery, Wall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meridian Home Health Care, 1340 Campus Parkway, Wall. Condolences may also be made online at www.elyfuneralhome.com.
