JOHN D. TOOLE
AGE: 89 PT. PLEASANT BEACH
John D. Toole, 89, of Pt. Pleasant Beach, died Sunday at Meridian Rehabilitation Center, Brick. He was born in Pt. Pleasant Beach and was a lifelong resident. Mr. Toole was an assistant manager for the Social Security Administration in Asbury Park for many years, he retired in 1978. He graduated Pt. Pleasant Beach High School in 1938 and Rutgers University in 1942. He was in the Army during WWII he was in the Blue Devils 88th Infantry, he received Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart.
Mr. Toole was a communicant of St. Peter's RC Church, Pt. Pleasant Beach where he was an usher for over 60 years, as well as a member and past president of the Holy Name Society for 60 years, and served as treasurer of St. Peter's P.T.A. from 1974. He was a life member of the B.P.O. Elks, #1698, in Pt. Pleasant Beach, he was a member of the Parking Authority in Pt. Pleasant Beach for over 30 years and he coached the Little League Soccer League from 1970-1973. He was also on the Committee of the Ocean County Office of the Aging and on the Advisory Committee for the Transportation of the Elderly and handicapped. Mr. O' Toole was a history buff. He painted duck decoys and enjoyed attending duck decoy shows.
Mr.Toole is survived by his wife, Eleanor Solia Toole; his son, John Toole, Jr. of Pt. Pleasant Beach and his brother, Philip C. O'Toole of Sarasota, Florida.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Van Hise & Callagan Funeral Home, 812 Arnold Ave., Pt. Pleasant Beach. A funeral mass will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter's RC Church, Pt. Pleasant Beach. Entombment will follow at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Wall Twp.
