Joseph Hayduk, 89, formerly of Middletown, passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2012, in Reston, Virginia. He was born on June 13, 1922 in Marion Heights, PA, and lived in Middletown from 1968 until 2009, when he moved to Great Falls, VA.

After graduating from Kulpmont High School, Joseph joined the Army Air Corps and graduated Officer Candidate School in 1943. Joseph proudly served his country, flying 47 combat missions in World War II between 1943 and 1945, in both the B-24 and B-29 Bombers, as a bombardier and navigator. Joseph also served in the Korean War flying as the navigator in a B-29 Bomber. After the Korean War, Joseph was part of the Strategic Air Command until he retired in 1968 as a Lieutenant Colonel. After retiring from the military, Joseph worked until his retirement as a title searcher in Freehold, NJ.

Surviving are his sons, Ronald J. Hayduk, and his wife, Suzanna Jones, and Kenneth R. Hayduk, and his wife, Victoria Hayduk. Joseph is also survived by his grandchildren, Riley C. Hayduk, Rita K. Hayduk-Jones, Jamie S. Hayduk-Jones, Sarah A. Karpe, Kendal A. Karpe, and Elizabeth N. Karpe; as well as his sister, Verna Augustine; and his brother, Steve Hyduk.

Joseph was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Theresa R. Hayduk; and his parents, Andrew and Anna Hayduk.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 30, 2012 from 6 to 8 pm at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, March 31 at 9:30 am at the funeral home. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered Saturday, March 31 at 10:30 am at St. Mary's Chapel, 26 Leonardville Rd., Middletown. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
